Mighty Ducks 4, Flames 3


The regular-season finale between the Anaheim Mighty Ducks and Calgary Flames was just a preview of the grueling playoff series that lies ahead in their first-round matchup.

Teemu Selanne capped a remarkable comeback season with his 40th goal on a power play midway through the third period, lifting the Mighty Ducks to a 4-3 victory over the Flames on Monday night. The teams combined for 102 minutes in penalties, and everyone on the ice was trying to send a message.

Mighty Ducks-Sharks Preview


GAME: Anaheim Mighty Ducks (42-26-12) at San Jose Sharks (43-26-11).

TIME: Saturday, 4:30 p.m. EDT.

The San Jose Sharks are storming into the playoffs and look to clinch the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference while setting a franchise record with their eighth straight win as they host the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.

The fifth-place Sharks have 97 points and lead the Ducks by one point in the West, while seventh-place Colorado trails Anaheim by two points.

Mighty Ducks-Coyotes Preview



GAME: Anaheim Mighty Ducks (36-21-12) at Phoenix Coyotes (33-33-4).

TIME: Saturday, 9 p.m. EST.

The surging Anaheim Mighty Ducks look to extend their season-high winning streak to six games as they visit the Phoenix Coyotes.

The Ducks are 9-2-1 since the Olympic break and 6-0-1 against the Coyotes this season, outscoring them 27-14.

Anaheim is in fifth place in the Western Conference with 84 points, just one point ahead of the Colorado Avalanche and two points ahead of the Vancouver Canucks.

Brunette's pair cool off Ducks



Andrew Brunette scored two third-period goals and had an earlier assist to lead the Colorado Avalanche to a 4-3 victory over Anaheim that snapped the Mighty Ducks' six-game winning streak Tuesday night.

Brunette's winning goal came at 13:57 of the final period, when he deflected a slap shot from Brett Clark past goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere.

Clark added a goal, and Brett McLean also scored for Colorado.




Mighty Ducks 5, Coyotes 2



The Anaheim Mighty Ducks are peaking at just the right time.

Teemu Selanne scored twice and added an assist to lead the streaking Anaheim Mighty Ducks past the Phoenix Coyotes 5-2 Saturday night for their sixth straight win.

"It's the perfect time to be hot," Selanne said. "Everybody knows it's tough to face a hot team in the playoffs, and right now we're hot.

Avalanche 4, Mighty Ducks 3



Andrew Brunette kept the Anaheim Mighty Ducks from rallying again for a seventh straight victory.

Brunette scored two third-period goals - each after Anaheim tied the game - to lead the Colorado Avalanche to a 4-3 victory Tuesday night that snapped the Ducks' six-game winning streak.

Anaheim came from behind to win five straight games and eight of 10. But Brunette's goals helped curb any momentum the Ducks managed to build.

"We're a pretty resilient group," Brunette said.

TIME: Wednesday, 8:30 p.m. EST.

The Dallas Stars look to stay close to first place in the Western Conference and top 100 points for the seventh time in nine seasons when they host the surging Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the first game of a home-and-home series.

The Pacific Division-leading Stars have won 10 of their last 12 games and remain in second place in the conference, six points behind the Detroit Red Wings.
